5 Exciting Events

I am closing out my last full month in Vermont with 5 very exciting, public poetry events!
1. Teen Spoken Word Workshop: Body Language. THIS THURSDAY, July 11th 6pm at the Brownell Public Library, Essex VT. Write from the perspective of your
arms, legs, and toes, and give your body an unique and powerful voice. FREE!  Click herefor more information.
2. The Burlington Writers Workshop Book Reading on Tuesday, July 16th 6:30pm at the Essex Free Library,  Essex VT. I will join fellow members of BWW to read
from our recently released anthology. Book signing to follow. Also free!
3. Exposed Exhibition: Poetry Performance, Dialogue, and Album Signing. Thursday, July 18th 6pm at the Helen Day Art Center, Stowe VT. Join me for this free
performance of my most nature and place-based works followed by a discussion of what it means to be “home” and the impacts of transience on social and environmental health.
4. Spoken Word Poetry: Roots, Rhythms, and Transformation Workshop sponsored by the Poetry Society of VT. Saturday July 20th, 2:30-4:30pm at
North End Studios,(Studio B 294 N. Winooski Ave Burlington, VT). $15 Students & PSOV Members; $20 General Admission.
“Spoken Word, more commonly referred to as “Slam,” highlights the rhythm and theater hidden in all poetry. Its roots intertwine with those of hip hop, hippies, and the civil rights movement, and they run all the way back to Ancient Greece. Hone the beat and performance of YOUR poems as we write and share for personal and social transformation.”
Please email Tamra Higgins to pre-register: Tamrajhiggins@gmail.com
5. One more Teen Poetry Workshop at the Essex Free Library in Essex, VT! Thursday, July 25th 6:30pm. Free.
That’s all the public events until Georgia! You can learn more about them on my Perform Page. In the meantime, enjoy this beautiful video of my friend Jean Rohe performing her new, social-justice-themed National Anthem, “Arise! Arise!” in honor of July 4th.
AND I recently found this very enlightening Upworthy video on U.S. Drone Attacks. Perhaps it will inspire your poem on change and transformation when you join me on July 20th….
