Sick Days

While I’ve spent a good amount of my time in Georgia looking for work (meaning laptop time), I spent the majority of this week out and about either working or securing work. This is a huge improvement. While the employment opportunities I have found so far are a combination of freelance and part-time, they are all directly involved with helping others write effectively. So I’m doing the work I love- yay! I am also writing, exploring Atlanta’s poetry scene, and spending time with loved ones. I feel good about the direction I’m headed. Today, however, I am taking a sick day. I have been refusing/denying the inevitability of catching my boyfriend’s nasty flu-cold-thing all week. With only one work day to go before reaching the I-got-out-of-the-house-everyday-this-work-week goal, I realized that I could not make it. In honor of sick days*, I give you: a video about cats and boxes (courtesy of my friend Emma**).

*May we one day live in a world where everyone has the right and economic ability to take sick days. May we always give ourselves permission to take care of our bodies.

**Emma: thank you for the gloriously mindless amusement.
